So the biggest story at the moment has to be that of the Cruise Ship which has crashed off the small Italian Isle of Giglio, with blame put on the Captain for trying to make an entertaining show of skimming past the island, which is near Tuscany. There's been lots of rumours about the whole incident, from the Captain flirting with a girl whilst attempting the manouvre to Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On playing in the background. The first one is plausable, at sea you get lonely and if a pretty dancer was to come and say hello to you whilst on duty as captain there would be the temptation to say hello, however the belief that she was a big contribution I find hard to believe, the Captain of a ship must be focused at all times and I believe he was, he may of talked to her but he would be more bothered about the 4,000 people on his ship, until it did crash that is. The rumour of "My Heart Will Go On" playing in the background sounds like the kind of joke that the Ex-Italian PM would make after the disaster, therefore I believe it isn't true. Some have described it as being like "The sinking of the Titanic!", except for the fact that the Titanic sunk in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, was hit by an iceberg and sunk. According to reports the Captain abandoned ship and got on a lifeboat before many of the passengers also onboard, to be honest I can't blame him, in a life and death situation I might do the same, except for the lifeboat part of things. Any person able to swim would have just swam to shore. It was an easy swimming distance. 13 people have been found dead so far, every death is tragic and my thoughts are with the families and friends of all people effected. My final view is that although the Captain should be disciplined and tried for wrecking the ship he's not a murderer and should not be tried for that charge.
