The New High Speed train service to Manchester and Birmingham.

So this is the first story I shall be commenting on. Basically the British Government in Westminster has passed that we should have a £32 billion High Speed Train project linking us to the north and cutting journey times. According to planning schedules it should be fully open and functioning by 2032, this being the Manchester line with the Birmingham line being finished around half a decade before then. Now by that time I will be nearing my 40th Birthday, meaning this construction will take 21 years, in that time a new kind of transport will be discovered which will be much quicker than a High Speed Train. Does the British Isles however need yet another transport link connecting Euston to the North and the Midlands. The simple answer is no. The average journey time at the moment to get to Birmingham is an hour and a half by train. 90 minutes. The way I see it that is quick enough, yes it's great that we can get there even quicker but it's Birmingham. There's already a great train service there already and we don't need another one that goes faster. The Manchester line aswell. The average journey time to Manchester isn't too long as it is, it's nice we can get there faster but it's not essential. To me it seems like Cameron is just finding ways to slap extra taxes on people, create more debt and ruin our economy even more.

I apologise to anyone thinking I'm being a bit pessamistic about it, yes it will create new jobs and yes it is a great technological advancement but it just seems pointless. The first High Speed train service between Gravesend station and St Pancreas has shown this. It takes to get from Gravesend to London Bridge Via normal train around 45 minutes, at a push. Now this is on an inner-city line. Which should be slow, yet it still doesn't seem as though the "HS1" is going much quicker. Another thing about Gravesend is that it isn't a very residential area. It has a fairly small population, most of which already drive. I had hoped that the Government wouldn't repeat it's mistake and build more of these services. It is also going to destroy 400 houses, so people will have to move just to create this service, pointless yet again. Making people move is not fair, especially for an overly expensive and extremely timeconsuming service. If construction was to be finished in the next 10 years perhaps I would be happy, but it's not, it's going to take a long time and cost a lot of money.

That's all for this post, but I'll be posting soon where you can read,

The News Just In.
